



A while ago we visited the Falkirk Wheel. It was a nice day out and a fascinating piece of engineering.
It is the largest rotating boat lift in the world.
Basically the canal boats travel along a canal, enter the wheel and are then lowered to another canal.
Each gondola holds 300 tonnes of water but because there are two of them and they are balanced, it uses hardly any energy at all to raise or lower the canal boats.
